General Appearance
Mary’s features are very delicate and expressive of her mother’s domain over womanhood. Her complexion is as pale as milk, unaffected by any time she spends in the sun, contrasting with the rich chocolate coloured locks of hair that cascade about her shoulders in loose curls. The one trait she gained from her mortal mother is her smaller stature, differing from the tall and stately queen of Olympus; however, her figure mirrors Hera’s with wide-set hips and a full-bosom.


Personality Information
Despite her modesty, Mary is extremely vain, and goes to great lengths to maintain her appearance; however, given her more reserved nature she is not one to flaunt it. She was always regarded as a quiet and polite ‘young lady,’ and her Deep South upbringing nurtured this behavior. On the other hand, some tend to interpret her demure personality as being snobbish or unapproachable, given the way she carries herself.  

She is rather studious, turning to books for amusement, and can often be found with her nose in an e-reader. Historical fictions written as first-hand accounts of royalty are her favorites, particularly The White Queen, The Other Boleyn Girl, and The Queen’s Vow.  Although, she occasionally finds herself unable to resist articles on parenting, which she critiques, and bridal magazines—guilty pleasures.

Character Biography
The Laffitte’s, Mary’s earthly parents, were a husband and wife team of Georgia lawyers based out of Savannah. Together they fought for marriage equality and to simplify the overly-complicated adoption system in the South which kept many families apart or from even existing. Inspiration for their efforts partly stemmed from their own unsuccessful attempts at having a child and the difficulties they faced dealing with adoption agencies. Together they held many conferences and planned numerous events to bring people together as a community in order to combat the opposition and spread the ideology of strengthening the family unit.  Mr. Laffitte opted to run for public office in the mid-nineties, and only a week before the final votes were to be cast he was fatally shot through the head and killed at a rally. Subsequently, Mrs. Valois discovered only a few short weeks later that she was indeed pregnant with what she assumed was her late husband’s child; when in fact, the goddess Hera had fused one of her own divine eggs with that of the mortal woman’s in order to create her first demigod. Traditionally, the goddess was opposed to the concept of the gods siring half-bloods, but doing so without defying the bonds of marriage allowed her to take greater-part in the upcoming war.

Mrs. Laffitte gave birth to a healthy baby girl after what she considered to be a surprisingly easy pregnancy and labor, despite this being her first and only child. She 'chose' to name the child "Mary" because it had stood out to her in a magazine while she was attending an appointment with her OBGYN, highlighted in purple under a section titled "Royal Names for Babies." The little girl was brought up with her very need met, and never wanted for anything. She attended private schools in the city, where she excelled in her studies with the assistance of an IEP to help overcome her struggles with dyslexia and OCD. Whenever she would attempt to read words in English they seemed to float off the page or try to rearrange themselves into odd-looking characters. With regards to her mental diagnosis, Mary always tended to have a heightened awareness of her surroundings, and couldn’t stand for anything to be out place. Doctors interpreted this as obsessive compulsiveness with generalized anxiety.

Moving into her adult life she never seemed to have any particular run-ins with the supernatural, aside from a Ouija board flying across the room on the one occasion she attempted to use with her college roommates. That or the occasion in World History, when studying Ancient Greece, that she was able to read a scroll the professor had passed around the class in order to show them the Greek alphabet.

She recently graduated from nursing school, and works in a community hospital.

Physical Description: Though twice a descendant of the Sgili bloodline, Yasayanaya markedly resembles the Orenskian Kovisto family from which her mother hails, with only the faintest traces of her father, the late Emperor Taeron. Her countenance, like her name, is compared to the pale serenity of the moon—one might even glimpse the blue of her veins beneath. She is petite in stature, with delicate but womanly features, and as such she dresses to accentuate these traits in only the finest of court silks and flowing robes. Personality Overview: To know her is to love her. The youngest member of the Imperial Family is greatly admired by both the common people and nobility alike for her kind-hearted, pious, and benevolent nature. The upkeep of this reputation was engrained in her since before she could either walk or talk through the teachings of her mother, the former Empress-Consort, Shu Lien fa Sgili di Orenskia—perception is everything. A royal, more specifically a royal female, must never compromise her standing or act beneath her station for others to see. As such, she never openly partakes in the court gossip or intrigue, relying upon the use of spies or her attendants to gather reports or do her bidding.

Whether or not she is truly sincere in regards to her many charitable acts and relations with those of lesser circumstances remains to be seen. However, rumors surrounding her household imply that the princess can be quite ruthless in dealing with those that defy her wishes or seek to bring shame upon the Sgili name. The loyalty she bears for her family runs deep, particularly for her mother and full-sibling but extending to them all, and serve as the fastest method of incurring her wrath.

Background: Under the face of the full-moon, just after midnight on the 24th of Hearth Fire 109 I.A., a daughter was born to Emperor Taeron by his first amant, Empress Shu Lien Fa Sgili di Orenskia. The child was remarkably pale and still, so much so that the court physician suspected she had not survived the birth; however, once the light of the night’s celestial body shown upon the crown of her head she let out a soft cry. Her parents therefore named her “Yasayanaya” meaning “She who lives of the moon.” The princess was placed into the custody of her mother’s household, and often traveled between the Imperial Harem in the capital to her older brother and full-sibling Yuan’s principality of Chale. The majority of her time was spent with tutors and her governesses, learning the ways of the court and taking part in her formal education.

She takes a special interest in charitable works and the funding of research within the nation’s various institutions, especially in regards to projects that might improve agriculture and everyday life. Although her position requires she be heavily guarded, she also enjoys frequent trips outside the royal enclosures to visit the market-places, a tactic by which she gains the respect and adoration of the common-people. The sincerity of her concern is debatable, but she seems to be a genuinely warm and demure young woman. Given her last birthday celebration she is now of marriageable age, and is a highly sought after choice for an amant, possessing Imperial blood on both sides as well as noble Orenskian heritage. Due to the Sgili tradition of incest between half-siblings and first-cousins, it is thought she stands as the most appropriate candidate to be amant of her brother Chu’a as any heirs would be not once but twice royal—like herself and Yuan.
