It was interesting, not only to be able to see the edge of the world now, but crawl to it and touch it. The tattered remnants of leather that had at one point been placed to protect the delicate tips of her fingers were frayed away now, so Lux could watch as her fingers swirled in the nothingness beyond the broken edge of her former world. She was floating on chunk of her former life. Part of a skyscraper and some of the neighborhood street were still with her. Further in the distance was a much bigger piece. She could even make out the great metal wall that kept her people in their place. Next to it, was another world, she had not seen before where dinosaurs roamed freely on open plains. Beyond that was a dark world that rolled with black clouds flashing lightening of golden red over a land more desolate than the one she’d come one.

Pushing herself up with much struggle, the air, if you could call it that, around her was hard to breathe, but with every breath she felt fatigue and the pull of death push further away than it had been before. Luxia let her eyes drift through this open abyss with floating continents. It stretched out further than her sore and tired eyes could perceive. There she stood, alone on a single floating chunk of earth only big enough for herself and her scattered inventory. With tired muscles, Lux knelt and pulled her effects closer to her, most of which she pushed into her flat-space pouch. She must have fallen rather hard for things to have fallen out of the pouch in the first place. Neither of her swords were damaged in the fall, so she replaced them in their respected places, her hip and her back. A gun with no ammunition was of no use to her, so she placed that in her pouch as well. With a great heave and grunt, the little woman hefted herself to her feet once more and looked around once more as if the scenery beyond her plate tectonic would have changed by now. It hadn’t.

Lazily, as if the cosmos moved like water down a smooth stream, her plate floated past her old world, past the dinosaurs, and beyond, never quite getting close enough for her to attempt a leap to a larger chunk. The longer she floated, the more the wondered if jumping was even possible. Perhaps hell was loneliness on a single stone watching other live? She didn’t recall having been so bad to be condemned to hell, but if memory served it didn’t take much. So, on she floated, until finally, the little coaster of earth came close enough to a new world for Lux to attempt a leap. She closed her visor over her eyes and darkened the lens to prevent her from seeing. Crouching, it took all the energy she had left to launch her petite form from the lonely little island to the newest patch. Fear and trepidation fueled her adrenaline and a wave of relief as her feet and knees and hands hit the ground almost knocked her over. Lux let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding and opened her visor.

Dirt beneath her feet and hands, sandy almost. She stood up and took a deep breath. The air burned, tingled and repaired. It was like taking a tonic when you were sick, disgusting, but you could feel it working better than it tasted. Wiping her gloved hand over her dry mouth, Lux took another breath and stepped forward. Gravity felt heavier here. Each step was strained like moving through sand. Before her an ancient stone bring stretched over dark water, that rushed quickly down into the earth, and opened into what seemed like a long abandoned temple for a dark deity. Lux managed to pull her being far enough forward that she was standing on the bring looking into that dark water, wondering what edible beast lay within.

It did not matter how far one walked, how many doors one walked through it seemed, this, place was made up of dying worlds, or at least fragments of them. Gage had surmised as much when he walked straight for one full day and walked through castles, skyscrapers, robotic factories and simple thatched houses. Though where the people were that once called such clumps of land masses home, he could not figure out. Though with how thick, dense and almost crushing the atmosphere of this world was, he couldn’t imagine many survived their initial exposure. That much was answered by a few skeletons he found on his travels. Gage was slightly surprised he had survived himself, and for years it felt like, though time bore no meaning in such a place.

Reaching into a pocket inside his long overcoat, Gage pulled out a small tube a see through orange in hue color. Popping the cap, he removed a single tablet no larger than a small mint and chucked it into his mouth, swallowing it quickly as his single remaining eye looked around. Flexing his grip upon his ever present katana, he sighed. Another day without either fighting, conversation or food. Though conversation wasn’t really anything he was so interested in, being deaf and all, it made it kind of difficult.

Trekking onward more, his heavy boot splashed down into dark water. Grumbling, he kicked some of the excess off his foot, hating getting wet, it only served to sour his mood further. Raising his one free hand, he brushed it through his dirty blond hair and adjusted the eye patch that covered his right eye. The water dissipated and a large gap opened between two cliffs, or the remnants of such as they only were about 30 meters thick, the rest of them completely missing or floating away into the vast expanse that was the gravity confused, place.

Gage’s nose twitched a moment later, something was different here, there was a scent in the air that caused this particular floating landmass to actually peek his curiosity, never mind the dark looming structure that he could see over the top of the broken cliff face. Content with his curiosity, Gage started forward, nose every twitching like an animal on the hunt, which made it all too easy to guess why he was nicknamed Jackal.

How long had it been since he’d felt another shift in the Realm and suddenly his daily bath had turned into an underwater marathon to find air and fight for survival. Archon’s swirling white hues couldn’t even be seen in their current condition, his whole body was surrounded by water darker than night, every now and then he’d send his fist upwards into the cold rocks in hope of finding a weaker part of the ground but no avail was to be had. How long had he been swimming for? It felt like hours but he knew that wasn’t the case, nine…ten minutes at the max was the number he guessed. Yet it was only now that his body was pressuring him for more air, underwater the only thing he could hear aside from his strokes was the constantly slowing down of his heartbeat. Right now the Atlantean was violently kicking his legs and constantly punching against the group as he swam under the rock face but what finally gave way wasn’t the ground below him but the waters escape into something akin to a small moat.

Gasps filled the as he gripped onto dirt and pulled himself free from the water, panting while his eyes adjusted to actual light, even if it wasn’t that bright. It only took a minute or so to get his breath back and then he had to time to adjust and look around the area, he was sure he’d know the place, after all he’d been here for ages already; crossed almost every marker, looted ever bottle of alcohol he’d come across on top of that. With narrowed eyes the almost naked human looked down to the ring on his finger, a darkened blue jewel sat embedded in black metal yet at closer inspection he found it to be cracked, and no matter how many times he flicked his wrist, nothing came out. “FUCK!” His curse echoed against the walls and multiplied before vanishing, and it was this that caused him to look at his surroundings, a place he’d never seen before?

He was sceptical at first but after looking over the many man made waterfalls and the structure of the dark temple he was sure that he’d never been here before, but on top of that; he was sure he hadn’t felt it come into existence either, perhaps he was too busy trying to get air to sense the shift because at this point it was the only thing that made sense. Slowly he made his way towards the bridge that crossed the body of water, the edge he’d come from was broken and made it easy to jump up onto it, from the corner of his eyes he caught sight of someone, another tick in his jaw caused him to question what kind of wonky shit was going on with his body, but that was quickly pushed to the side as he approached the person; still dripping of water, dark locks hanging messily on his head and wearing nothing more than what would seem like an old loin cloth.

If there was one thing Lux had learned watching her world fall into despair and decay it was that the earth always wins. At some point or another, nature would retake everything that been stripped from it. Standing on this battered, cracked bridge, her observation was reaffirmed. Stalks of tall grass grew out through the cracks in the stone, moss covered many of the tall columns, the constant flow of the water had weathered away many of the support arches which had caused the cracks in the first place.

Moving forward, the weight of her mecha boots no longer a hinderance, the outworlder approached the broke edge of the bridge and looked down, straining her eyes to find any sort of life form therein. With an absent thought, the nano glass that comprised her visor began to form from the cuffs resting over her ears and created a line over her face. A soft buzzing came alive in her ear as the programming struggled to analyze the new surroundings. Other than the high levels of toxicity in the air there wasn't much else her programming could decipher. The whole thing would have to be reprogrammed and most if not all of her gear would have to be recalibrated to her new surroundings. Of course that was the optimist in her thinking. Lux still had no idea where she was or what the hell she was going to do, but there had been many times in her old life that she'd stumbled onto a spot of land never before visited, so the prospect of something new or different being terrifying had long since left her. Only curiosity filled her now, forward thinking, and prospects of something new.

Lux knelt down, pressing her hands to the edge of the stone. She could see her reflection. Her hair was a long curly mess, half a bun ontop of her head. The nano glass peeled back to reveal tired green-gold eyes. Her face was haggard, the edges too sharp. Her sweater and under shirt were whispers of their former selves. Then her visage was distorted and rippled, disturbed. Something moved under that liquid onyx flowing endlessly to who knows where. She watched the ripple move, and her mind wandered to the stories of seeing the Loch Ness Monster lightly skimming the surface of it's famed lake. Her train of thought drifted to that of crocodiles or alligators lurking in swamps or whereever the hell they lurked. By the time her world collapsed they were either in any body of water or none at all.

"Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming..."

She got up off the floor again, finding it a bit easier than the first attempt and her eyes widened, head tilting to find a man washing up on a jagged shore. So long had it been since the girl had seen another human looking being that she simply stood where she was staring, wondering if it was indeed a real person. Her eyes followed him as he pulled his mass from the rushing water and flopped down in nothing more than a loin cloth.

'If I had a Kodo or a Podo they wouldn't have anything to steal from him. Fun to find out loin cloths are really a thing though.'

His voice startled her, causing her to suck in a sharp breath of this disgusting air. When he rose and she could see that his eyes were set upon her before he started to move her way, her breath locked in her lungs. Turning to face his approach, Lux put her arms behind her back, fingers tracing the edge of her sword hilt that was barely hidden under the frayed edges of her sweater. She could have run, but her fight or flight reflex always tilted more to fight. The gears on her mecha boots whirred to life, the minor hydraulics with shifting, testing themselves. She'd need all the help she could get to move given her worn state of being.

Her mouth moved but no sound came out. Lux let out her breath and worked her jaw again. "I..." Rusty. She licked her lips and swallowed. "I..." Okay here goes. "I demand a toll. A troll toll."

Gage's advance was halted when the scent of another seemed to appear out of no where, though it was a wet, like a damp dog, so maybe an under water tunnel? Possibly. This one too however, was less, pretty, male from what Gage could tell, but then again it had been so long since he had been in contact with another person that his nose may be a little off. Again though, he wasn't about to waste too much time, the chance to at least see another living creature was too tempting so he kept walking, the dust coating his steel coated combat boots and dirtying the end of his long coat.

As he rounded the last corner, slowly, he spotted them, just as his nose had told him was there, one male and one female. From this distance it normally would have been difficult for one to make out the finer details, yet Gage had no trouble, it was not only his nose that was enhanced, all his senses were and his vision was as keen as a bird of prey. The female was, cute, he had to admit that much, her attire was unique and seemed a bit more advanced then what he was use to seeing. Those large boots were hardly easy to move around it, though that tattered top definitely left room to move freely. Gage couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

Keeping a loose hold on his sword, Gage slowly rounded the corner, keeping an eye on the two as he came into clear sight of the female, the male still having his back towards him. Again though, he was forced to pause as he 'saw' what the woman said. Gage, as was known, is deaf, completely, but with his keen sight he is able to read lips from a great distance, even further away than someone with working ears could hear. 'Troll toll?' Was she crazy? And what the hell is a troll and how does one pay it? Sounds painful. Reaching up with his free hand, Gage scratched the tip of his nose with his index finger as he contemplated just what the hell a Troll Toll was and if he had to pay it too to get past.

'Maybe she will take IOU's.' Gage pondered as he shrugged and began walking towards them, his eye shifting from the woman's lips and to the male to see if he would turn around.

Unlike most would, Archon didn’t stop in his tracks when the female finally turned to completely face him, though he did notice her hands being moved around her back and he had to take note of the possible weapon she had there, after all her legs weren’t quiet spread wide enough for it to be a military stance. As he neared her words just about jumbled his mind, was she demanding an adult troll as payment to cross the bridge? He shook his head and figured it must have meant something else, after all there was no way she’d be able to take possession of a troll without getting in danger.

It was then during the seconds pause while he was thinking that he took time to look her over, starting from the large boots upwards it was clear she hadn’t been in this realm for long, after all who would be crazy enough to explore an unknown realm in boots those size? She had clearly been through some shit which was shown off by the condition of her top, though what that was he had no idea, just that it must have happened before arriving here; after all it had been countless years he’d spent walking this realm and in that time he hadn’t found much of anything that could rip apart clothes, unless of course she was crazy and did it herself; after the troll demand this was another option he had to take into consideration.

“You demand payment for crossing a bridge in my own home? It’s true that I’ve long since left the civilised world but even then this just seems excessive.” His voice was hoarse; the accent something that few had ever heard before, especially in this realm where few people had a concept of earth and even fewer of Atlantis. The way his tone came across was nothing less than serious, almost threatening even though he held no armaments or hostile expression. Though as his eyes narrowed onto the female it wouldn’t have been hard to assume the male was angry, facial features stoic, arms at his side inches away from his body which in the moment was almost statuesque, one could say reminiscent of a solider and they’d be pretty damn close.

“I’m unsure of when you arrived here or how long you’ve been searching for a troll, but I assure you there are no trolls to be had in this area, I’m afraid they wouldn’t survive the constantly influx of new areas and the things they bring with them that probably should never be touched.”

The panels in her boots that allowed for ease of movement flexed, opened and closed again. Gears whirred softly as she shifted her feet, the weight of her body moving from one leg to another so her hip jutted a bit when she made her demand. Her pants were black, like most of her attire, but faded to an almost greyish state. The only weapon visible from her stance at the moment was the straight blade hanging from her hip over her flat-space pouch, but she'd made no move for it. Truth be told, the retractable blade who's hilt sat on the small of her back was much easier to wield, though there was a persistant hope that it wouldn't need to be used at all.

Just as Tarzan moved into her direct line of vision another figure rounded the corner of their shared alcove. With a dying sun setting behind him, the gentle fluttering of his tattered cloak, the dull shine off the various metal adornments and the katana in his hand, he looked like something out of a Final Fantasy cut scene. Epic music began to play in her head - the man needed a theme song, even as her fingers curled tighter about the hilt of her sword.

Eyes darting between the two, Lux produced an uneasy smile. One male she could throw all that was left of her strength at, but two, well she just didn't like the idea of what would happen dead or alive. Her heart rate went up. A slow steady climb as adrenaline began to run her veins. Fingertips tingling, toes wiggling in her boots, she prayed her comment would cool the situation before it even got tense.

'What now?' Lux's brow went up when the man rebuttled her joke, eyes shifting to Tarzan. Her hands came out from behind her back, one disappearing in her heavy curls and resting on her neck, the other waving his serious response off. "It was a joke, buddy. I didn't know what you wanted or why you were charging toward me like a bull so I was trying to defuse the situation. I see now it's just how you walk."

Green-gold shifted to Finally Fantasy, marking how close he'd gotten to the commotion, but she continued to speak to Tarzan. "Since you just sprang out of the water like 'The Little Mermaid' can you tell me something? Any fish in there? If I'm going to die, I might as well do it eating something I probably shouldn't have."

A soft breeze past between the male and female getting to know one another and as it reached Gage, his jacket whipped up behind him. Raising his sword, he rested it across his shoulders, along the back of his neck, both hands dangled over either edge limply, hanging by his wrists. Every so often, as the distance closed, his head would tilt from left, then to the right, reading the woman's words on her lips. It seemed the other guy didn't get her 'Troll toll' reference either. Well good, Gage wasn't the only one not part of this, inside joke, so to speak.

Still though, it was nice to see he wasn't the only one left on this, world. Maybe it was limbo? Would make sense really if you thought about it, no place like this could exist in reality. Least Gage didn't think so anyway, but then again, he wasn't much of a probability thinker. Honestly though, Gage was slightly expecting the next life form he saw to be something out of a horror story with 5 arms and 4 rows of razer sharp teeth. To see actual humans was a novelty really.

The closer he got, the more he realized, the female was pretty small, the guy was roughly an inch or two taller than himself, but it was also the first time those two had met, their demeanor spoke volumes and Gage didn't need his sense of hearing to tell that much. Yet, he continued to advance, and when one would think it an appropriate distance away to stop and say 'Hey', Gage suddenly thought to himself, 'You idiot, you don't even know if they know sign language. Great, you're going to walk up to them and stare them into guessing what you are thinking. Fuck. Well, least I know they are around.'

With his inner monologue taking over his thought process, Gage kept walking, marching straight past the two figures without even so much as a grunt in acknowledgment. Maybe he would find something inside the temple? What the fuck else was he suppose to do now? His form visibly slouched forward in annoyance. So close, yet so far. Wasn't that always the case.

The slightest movement from the girls arms caused his own to tense up, even though it was muscle memory to some it would probably have looked like he was itching to attack her, that was until one of her hands vanished into her long hair and the other waved to him, accompanied by her words of assurance that she was just trying to defuse the situation with a joke. Archon quickly bypassed the troll toll demand as he watched her eyes move from him to something behind him, even during that she continued to talk. Unlike before his eyebrows would have narrowed at her mention of Mermaids, his once stoic features now clearly surprised enough that his attention fell from whatever was behind him to the mythical creatures she just mentioned.

“Mermaids are the harlots of the sea, I don’t think they could simply live in a small body of water such as this and if they could they’re known to possess such beauty that any man would fall to their knees at the sight…Monstrous creatures they are…How do you know of them? Are you perhaps from a planet named Earth?”

Now Archon was the one with the odd comments and slightly out there question, to most people they didn’t know their planets name, after all from what he’d seen while in this realm made it seem that most lived a sheltered life without looking to the skies, something that from time to time he wishes he had done.

Just as he finished speaking the unknown that she was looking at finally appeared in the corner of his eyes, white hues glanced over the male and noted a few peculiar things. First off he was the man Archon had found in this place that actually held onto a weapon, even though he hadn’t ran into many those that he did he often heard of how the pull to this realm was similar to being dragged through fast paced waters, so for a man to hold onto a sword through that situation was something worth noting. The second thing he found odd were the pieces of metal that seemed to be imbued into the outfit that he wore…Surely the would hold one down in a fight, and why were the metal parts protecting the knees and toes when the heart was left uncovered…

Archon shook off the moments thought as the male sauntered between the two and continued on towards the temple, either he was lacking in manners or he really just wasn’t interested in the conversation the two were currently having, either way Archon stepped out before the new comer got too far, a heavy hand gripped down on the male’s right arm and pulled him around, intent on having the male turn to at least face him as he spoke.

“I don’t know what your intentions are inside the temple but I can assure you that it won’t be safe. New places pop up in this realm every couple of days and some of them are safe but I can promise that this one isn’t.” Of course most of this advice was given while attempting to turn the man around, after all he didn’t have to be face to face to assure the male that he wasn’t aiming for an attack.

So that was a no on the food, but his Segway piqued her interest. Well, his whole demeanor piqued her interested. He seemed sullen about everything, there was no joking with him and everything left a bad taste in his mouth. From the way, he moved to the look of distance on his face and the small flashes of emotion, Lux deduced he’d lived long enough to see all the rainbows go out in the world. He spoke of mermaids as if he’d actually encountered one before – left a sour taste.

Letting out a breath, Lux nodded to Tarzan. Her head lolled upward, tired eyes searching the unusual skies above this floating mass they shared. She let silence fall between them as she mulled over his words. At first she thought his familiarity with her references was because he was of the same time or perhaps this rock actually had them, but his mannerisms said different. His way of speech and his accent was not something she could pin point. Her gloved fingers flexed slowly along the back of her neck in thought. Taking a very deep breath and letting out slowly, Lux let her head fall back down so she could meet the Mr. Loincloth’s gaze head on. His eyes were white, pure white. If it wasn’t for his focused stare on her person, she’d have thought he was blind.

“Earth. Yeah, my world was called that. Why do you ask?”

Before they could continue their conversation, Lux’s Final Fantasy hunk had breached their shared space. Despite his adorablity and the lazy way he carried his sword, Lux shifted her stance, moving so she was facing both males at the same time forcing the three of them into the three points of a triangle.

The sheer idea, that this man was going into the temple between them left a sour taste so strong, Tarzan forced him to a stop and battered him down with hard won knowledge. There wasn’t much thought behind her next move, but Lux reached out and placed her gloved hand lightly on his bare shoulder. “You can’t save them all.”

It was an absent comment and though it was brought about by the moment at hand, it lingered in the air with a weight that they both obviously shared. Lux removed her hand after realizing she’d breached the personal space of a stranger. Her eyes shifted to the sword wielder. “Hello.”

Gage had been so lost in thought that he almost forgot just what the hell had been going on around him, his whole thought pattern had been how to interact with the two other people that suddenly popped up, and he just walked straight passed them. Only for the half naked male had caught him, he probably would have been almost half way inside the temple before he remembered just why he was coming up with 'greeting plans'. Though like he had thought, it was extremely unlikely they knew how to talk to a deaf person.

As Gage turned, somewhat forceably, as his single eye fell on the males mouth, catching only the last couple of words, which obviously made no sense out of context. With a furrowed brow and a grunt, Gage removed one hand from his sword, the other still holding it in place across his shoulders as he shook the mans hand free of his arm. Looking at the woman, he saw she too had said something, but he caught that, which was easy, it was just a single word.

This was going to be annoying, he could already tell. Every time he met someone new, it was a game of charades trying to tell them that it wasn't that he spoke a different language, it was he couldn't hear what they were saying. Closing his hands in a fist, it almost seemed like a threat, for a split second anyway until he extended his thumb and pointed to his right ear with it then shook his head and grunted again. Hopefully that was all they required because he hated having to force himself to speak. Gage knew he sounded ridiculous, he could tell by the looks of those he was talking too' face. The smirks, laughs and bloody noses that soon followed were enough to make it extremely rare for him to ever open his mouth.

Dropping his hand to his side, Gage kept his sword in place, his free hand dangling free as he now played the waiting game. It would be easier to get this out of the way first before he waved a greeting and giving them some false indication he could hear them. The lip reading would be explained later, maybe.

His reaching out had just been brushed off by the newcomer and on top of that there was a newly placed gloved hand on his own shoulder with words that held weight because clearly the girl had been in situations where she couldn’t save people, like he had; after all it was those who were naive and inexperienced that thought they could save everyone. Having been brushed off by the guy who was now facing them Archon moved slightly to the side which now placed him half in front of the female, not only because the male still had one hand on his sword and the other crunched into a fist but the grunt he’d let escape and also the furrowed brows all added together into the possibility that he may just attack and after finding out that this girl was from Earth he couldn’t let her perish this soon into their conversation.

His cloud white eyes followed the movements that Gage made and in the meantime he made no attempt at speaking further towards him until the fist made movements and he pointed the thumb towards his ear followed by another grunt and the shake of his head. The pieces were starting to make sense now, atleast the part about him not replying to the comment that Archon had given him, the man had no hearing.

“You can’t hear what we’re saying, can you?”

This question was both pointed at Gage and at the same time just an affirmation of what the man had pointed out, obviously Gage couldn’t hear him to agree or disagree but it was more of a vocal confirmation of the facts than anything else. Archon remained still through the acknowledgement of the deaf man, what else could he say, he had no way of communicating and the thoughts going through his head at the moment weren’t anything the young man should hear anyway; simple because in his days those born with defects were often killed at infancy or left elsewhere to die off on their own.

There was another ripple in the dark depths of the water rushing below the bridge they were gathered on. It was predecessed by an explosion of bubbles from the underwater way which her loinclothed companion had passed through as well, almost overshadowed by the foam created by the constant fall of water from the walls around them. The ripples dissipated under the bridge as if the force of its source hadn’t been enough to breech the other side.

Luxia shifted her weight once more, her eyes having drifted from the men to the water. She was not unaware of shift in Tarzan’s stance when eyepatch was turned to them. He garnered a protect stance despite the fact that pulling someone with a sword their way had been cause from his actions and Lux was outfitted with at least one visible weapon and he had nothing but a strip of cloth that provided no other protection than from that of prying eyes.

Movement between the men, drew her attention back to the conversation at hand. His motions brought Lux to the same conclusion as the other guy. He was deaf, but his eyes jumped from his mouth to hers and back again. A chuckle left her, when a verbal conclusion was made. Why was it that people always felt the need to do that? As if, if it wasn’t said out loud it wasn’t real? Lux understood that line of thinking to a point. She’d spent so much time by herself that she’d spoken out loud just to hear a voice. She’d spoken to people and animals that attacked her just to speak to someone, just for some sort of contact. She couldn’t imagine not being to hear something, anything. Not being able to hear the stomp of a hoof before an animal charges, or the chirp of a bird. She did not envy his world of silence, because she knew that silence, it had been forced upon her many times over and almost driven her mad. Well maybe a little closer to almost than she was willing to admit.

More bubbles floated up from under the bridge, followed by a quiet tremble through the fickle stone on which they stood. The ripples began to move, slithering back and forth under the arches of the bridges. Even from her peripheral vision, it was clear that whatever was moving under that black sheen of water was massive. Yet she didn’t mention it. Part of her thought perhaps whatever was moving there was simply swimming leisurely in its home. Something that size had to eat. If it was moving through that mote there must have been something in the water for it to eat.

Or maybe something out of it…

The moment the idea struck Lux, the animal leapt out of the water and looped its mass onto the already broken stone behind Lux, shaking the whole bridge and throwing her forward into the two men. Lucky for her, she was thrown forward and not back into its open and waiting jaws. The long jaw, full of razor teeth, snapped shut. Stone chipped and fell away from under the beast, who was at least a ton and forty feet long. It’s little forearms flailed, head whipping side to side as it struggled to scramble further onto the bridge.

Lux hit the ground and watched the ground begin to crack just in front of her, separating her from the other two males. Her hand shot up, reaching her gloved fingers into that crack for grip. The beast was right behind her. She could feel its angry breath riding up her legs as it struggled to remain on the bridge. She tried several times to plant her booted feet just long enough to get traction. If she could get traction she could get off this sinking ship.

Click. Click. Click.

Her gravity leveler sounded like a car that wouldn’t turn over. It needed recalibration to reconcile with this world. It was useless right now. Shit. That meant that most of her electronics would need recalibration, not that any of that would matter if she was eaten. On an optimist note if the thing did eat her she could always hope it cut its mouth on all the metal she had on her person and died of infection.

The was no reaction to the guys assessment, he had clearly figured out Gage's meaning pretty quickly which was a relief, charades wasn't going to be needed this time. It looked like the girl too was also a pretty quick learner, even if the half naked male had basically spelled it out. Gage picked up on all the subtle nuances of the males stance, positioning, even the way he spoke, his eye sight was so honed that he could almost tell a persons pitch just from the slightest twitches of the muscles upon their face. This guy was a protector, almost to the point it was engraved into his very being and not just a job.

Gage didn't make any other movements once his hand fell back to his side, there wasn't really much point to increase tension beyond what it already was, even if he was pretty confident in his own abilities. There was, however, something else present with them in the area. The hairs on Gage's arms were almost standing on end, he couldn't hear what was going on around him, but he could feel something, something big. It looked like the female had picked up on it too, but neither were ready for the massive beast that launched out of the water.

Sliding left foot back, Gage widened his base of support as the ground beneath them cracked, his sword swinging from over his shoulder and down to his left hip, still sheathed as his right hand extended forward slightly for added balance. The bridge was crumbling and Big Boots was caught of the other section that was slowly falling into the waiting maw of the over grown tuna.

Gage's single eye was bouncing left, right, up and down, taking in everything going on, almost all at once. Speed reading was something he had developed as a child to an unparalleled level which translated pretty handily over to when surprises situations popped up and required very quick analysis.

Once he had decided, Gage didn't look to the other male to coordinate some sort of counter, or see if he was going to run away, there wasn't enough time. Crouching slightly, Gage bolted forward, jumping the gap between the piece of the bridge still stationary and the part falling with the female, he landed on one knee facing towards the beast. With a quick scoop, his right hand wrapped around the females waist and hoisted her off the ground. Standing up again, he jumped backwards, and with a little extra force, kicked the falling section of the bridge a bit harder, sending it with more velocity towards monster. It, however, was unfazed as it's giant maw smashed the stone to mere pebbles.

Landing back on solid ground again, Gage flicked his katana back and grabbed the handle, letting the sheath slide to the ground. With another adjustment he spun the sword around and pointed the tip towards the monster, though he was still holding the female, butt facing forward, under his arm and didn't seem to have any intention of releasing her just yet.
